Bury Me at Makeout Creek is Mitski's third album, released under Double Double Whammy on November 11, 2014. Mitski released "First Love/Late Spring," "Townie," "I Don't Smoke," and "I Will" as singles before the release of the full album. The album was then rereleased under a new record label, Dead Oceans, with a few bonus tracks. Bury Me at Makeout Creek has been described as "smashing together" love, death, and violence, as well as teetering on the edge of artful indie pop and "unhinged punk rock." Mitski's third album displays her courage and knowledge as a musician, utilizing a full range of instruments to convey a plethora of emotions, themes, and stories.
